A.
As I am unsure whether
you are writing as a result of personal experience of sexual abuse or on
behalf of a friend I am answering as I would to you if it were you who
experienced the pain of abuse.
When someone has been
abused sexually they have been through a terribly painful experience and
may well have a whole mixture of different feelings and emotions.
Can I say first that
whatever your past experience you are not to blame for what happened.
Secondly can I restate what we said at the “love for
life”
presentation that whatever your experience or situation “you are a very
special and unique individual.” Don’t
undervalue yourself no matter how you feel or what happened to you in the
past.
Thirdly, can I
encourage you to ring;

... who offer a counselling service for
anyone who has been sexually abused in the past.
The Nexus telephone number is in the phone book.
Alternatively, could you talk with a teacher within the pastoral
care side of things at school? It
is sometimes difficult to make the first move regarding asking for help,
but certainly it will often ease the pain to talk through your situation
with someone who is experienced to help and can support you.
Help,
support and counselling is available and I would encourage you to take
things further by ringing one of the above numbers.
You are a special
person.
